Pied
Pack
PiedPack is an interactive art installation that invites visitors to color fish using real crayons or pencils on paper. The hand-drawn artworks are then digitized and brought to life virtually, reconnecting the digital age with hands-on creativity.

PiedPack offers an entertaining and immersive experience for both children and adults, playfully and imaginatively combining craftsmanship and creativity with modern technology. Visitors are invited to color fish with real crayons or pencils on real paper. The resulting hand-drawn artworks are then digitized and brought to life in a vibrant virtual coral reef.
During the 38c3 approximately 200 fish were colored and brought to life. While the main installation was in the c3kidspace, the same fish were swimming at the Luxeria Assembly. We learned a lot – not-so-surprisingly kids upload uncolored white fish to see how/if it works – and we fixed bugs. The originally flat fish became 3D models.

This year you will be able to interact with your fish. Using your body and with gestures, you can give your fish commands and dive through the coral reef yourself.
Color with us in Hamburg at the 39. Chaos Communication Congress, 27.-30. 12.2025.
